We dubbed this design direction for this year’s European Film Festival as “Modern Pop(corn)”.
The reference drew from a selection of visually striking, modern, and bold designs. These designs are not only globally appealing but also embrace a strong sense of a modern African aesthetic that is unapologetically loud and colourful.
We combined this style with film-related imagery and a strong choice of typography to build a standout visual execution.
This concept also lends itself well to a wide range of textures and plates, allowing flexibility to incorporate different communication and design elements across various applications.

We supported the proposal with a social media design concept proposal to set the tone for the rollout of this design. Other elements included the festival’s website concept and design, as well as adaptation of the graphic for various branding elements like pull up banner, media walls and more.
